An Open Letter to Friends – the Old, the New, the Evergreen

To the Old:

Look at us, look how we’ve grown! Remember the days in school when we planned our whole lives ahead of us? Back then, we were all but the same — same age, same classrooms, same parks — all under one roof. As we grew, our differences did too and somehow, we failed to understand each other and what we once knew. We watched each other grow up and grow away…but that’s okay, know that I’m always around the corner, if you ever need me on a rainy day.

I drive past those roads we walked along 15 years ago and nothing has changed, except us. I wish certain things had happened differently, but we were just kids. I will always rejoice in the simple thought that I got to know you and grow up with you! I will celebrate your milestones with you and wish you the best every step of the way.

To the New:

Well, hello and welcome to my adult life. Although we just met, I like that we think alike and like the same things. I like that we’d like to get to know each other better and am excited by the possibilities you hold! I am now more self-aware and balanced. I will show up to our friendship and share my life with you, in the hope that you will do the same. Age is no matter here, as fate would have it, chances are we are not of the same age but of the same vibe…
